April 2020 / May 2020 - overview
Things that I’ve done over the past couple of months.
-
Wrote a tool that monitors changes to sitemaps. I needed something that would detect newly published webpages for archival capture. The Github repo is here.
-
I started a short course at City, University of London - Introduction to Data Analytics and Machine Learning with Python. The course has really hit the ground running and has been quite challenging. So far it has covered - Python and Jupyter; NumPy; and Matplotlib.
-
Attended a couple of virtual meet-ups.
-
Understanding A.I. - Virtual Conference - IBM
This meetup was really interesting and was very broad in its scope. It featured segments on A.I. in computing and society, machine learning and generative adversarial networks (GAN), and the ethical issues machine learning. One of the most interesting things that was presented was StyleGAN, a GAN that generates fake human faces - freaky.
-
Build and deploy custom AI predictive models - IBM
This meetup looked at building machine learning models using IBM’s AutoAI. The demonstration looked at predicting houses prices from a set of their attributes.

Blockchain stuff. I’ve been running a beacon node and validator client on the Topaz Testnet for Ethereum 2.0 (this is detailed in another post). I’ve also downloaded a full Bitcoin node. I want to have a play around with the bitcoin console, construct some raw transactions etc.

As a side note, it has been nearly a year since I started writing stuff on this blog - how time flies, as they say.
